Album Credits [BETA] FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the data for Album Credits come from?

Album Credits licensed the AMG database, the largest and most comprehensive music database available.

How is Album Credits different from All Music?

Although the underlying data is the same, Album Credits was designed from the ground up for the music production business. We developed a custom user interface and re-structured the presentation of the data to focus on the people behind the music.

Who has a Profile?

Anyone with a production or performance credit in the AMG database will have a profile on Album Credits.

How do I Claim My Profile?

Use the search interface to navigate to your profile. Click the Claim Profile button on the left side of the screen and fill out the information. You will receive an email from Album Credits with your login credentials.

Why should I claim my profile?

There are a number of benefits to claiming your profile. People interested in hiring you have a way to contact you. You can upload a bio and link to your website. Your profile will have a direct link which you can include in your email signature.

How do I become a verified user?

During the Beta release, verification will be done manually by the staff at Album Credits after you claim your profile.

What is a Basic Profile?

Album Credits automatically generates a Basic Profile for anyone with a performance or production credit in the AMG database. The Basic Profile is free and includes the following:

  • Discography
  • Career Timeline
  • Artists worked with
  • Co-credited professionals
  • Co-credited performers
  •  Direct link to your profile

Once you claim your profile you can upload a photo and bio and enter contact information.

What is an Enhanced Profile?

In the Beta release the Enhanced Profile is not available. When Album Credits 1.0 launches, anyone who has claimed their Basic Profile can upgrade to an Enhanced Profile for a small monthly fee. With an Enhanced Profile, users can:

  • Add themselves to projects they worked on but did not receive credit for.
  • Correct mistakes in their credits
  • Add releases not included in the AMG database
  • Consolidate multiple profiles.
  • Create a direct link to their profile with a custom URL
  • Suppress duplicates that can clutter their discography such as “clean” or “international” releases
  • Highlight select titles, current projects and breakthrough projects

What if my credits contain mistakes on All Music?

If your credits contain mistakes on All Music, those same mistakes will be present in the Beta release of Album Credits. When we release Album Credits 1.0, registered users will have the option of signing up for an Enhanced Profile for a monthly fee. The Enhanced Profile will give you the ability to correct mistakes.

What if an album that I worked is included on Album Credits but not on my discography and I want to add it?

That means one of two things, you did not receive a credit in the liner notes or the credit was not captured when the album was added into All Music. When Album Credits 1.0 is released, registered users will have the option to sign up for an Enhanced Profile for a monthly fee. The Enhanced Profile will give you the ability to add albums to your discography that you worked on but your credit is not reflected in the database.

Once the Enhanced Profile becomes available, if I make a correction on Album Credits will it transfer to All Music?

No, all updates to All Music are imported into Album Credits but the reverse is not true.

If I release a new album, how does it get onto Album Credits?

Most new albums are added to the All Music database. Album Credits receives nightly updates from All Music.

If I register will visitors be able to see my eMail address?

No, your email address is not displayed on the site. When visitors wish to contact you they fill out a web form which is then forwarded to you from Album Credits.

What if I have a Manager that handles inquiries?

Once you have claimed your profile and logged in, the Personal Info tab allows you to enter two email addresses. You can then select which email address inquiries are sent to.
